Titania is the arch-nemesis of She-Hulk.
History[]
Origin[]
Mary MacPherran was prematurely born in Denver, Colorado, into a family unable (or unwilling) to give her the support she needed. Short and scrawny, Mary was given the nickname "Skeeter," short for mosquito, by the resident mean girl Vanessa Ashwood. As she grew older, Mary became enamored with superheroes and comic books, spending much of her time imagining herself as a superhero.
During her senior year of high school, Mary got a job at a grocery store where she was befriended by fellow outcast Marsha Rosenberg. Soon after, Mary told Marsha that she's secretly Spider-Woman.
The pair were later invited to a party by Vanessa, where Mary found herself being accepted by her former bullies. However, at that moment, Denver became part of Battleworld during the Secret Wars. The real Spider-Woman soon appeared, saving the party-goers from falling debris. Vanessa and her friends turned against Mary, who realized Marsha had told her secret. The bullies drove Mary and Marsha into the forest where they were greeted by Doctor Doom. Doom offered the pair great power in exchange for assisting him. Both girls agreed, and were transported to Doom's headquarters.[1]
Secret Wars[]
Using alien technology, Doctor Doom imbued Mary MacPherran and Marsha Rosenberg with incredible powers. Marsha, gaining a fiery plasma form, took the name Volcana, while Mary, growing at least a foot and a half and gaining the superhuman strength of a mythical titan, decided on the name Titania.[2]
As Titania, Mary joined forces with the other villains serving Doctor Doom. It was at this point that she first met the Absorbing Man, a supervillain that Titania grew very close to. She also first encountered She-Hulk, igniting an intense rivalry between the two women.
Masters of Evil[]
When the villains returned to Earth, Titania and Absorbing Man joined Baron Zemo's new Masters of Evil where they battled the Avengers.
Femizons[]
Titania briefly served as a member of the Femizons, an all-female band of super-villains led by Superia. After several conflicts with Captain America, the group disbanded and Titania rekindles her romance with the Absorbing Man. The pair eventually decide to get married.
Illness[]
Eventually, Titania discovered that she had cancer. Unable to pay for treatment, her husband kidnapped Dr. Jane Foster and forced her to help Titania. After a battle with Thor led to the building crumbling around them, Titania used the last of her strength to save Dr. Foster's life. In exchange, Dr. Foster helped treat Titania's illness.
The Power Gem[]
After a humiliating defeat by She-Hulk, Titania gained the Power Gem, one of the Infinity Stones. She used the gem to wreak havoc on She-Hulk's apartment building, but was inevitably defeated by She-Hulk and her allies.
Fear Itself[]
Titania briefly became a member of The Worthy named Skirn, Breaker of Men after finding a mythical hammer. She also spent time attempting to reform as part of the Hood's Illuminati.
Illuminati[]
Titania attempted to give up a life of villainy as a member of the Hood's Illuminati, though it was short-lived.
Powers and abilities[]
Titania possesses superhuman strength, durability, and stamina after being exposed to alien technology. Her strength rivals even the toughest fighters, such as She-Hulk, Thor, and the Thing.
